Solemn High Mass De Requiem 7/09/2019
Members and volunteers of the Maltese Association, together with a group of members from the American Federal Association visiting Malta, gathered at St John’s Co-Cathedral in Valletta for the traditional memorial service for the fallen during the Great Siege of 1565.
Mgr Lawrence Gatt, Principal Chaplain, was the main celebrant of the High Mass, following which, Maltese Association President, H.E. Marchesino Daniel de Petri Testaferrata and a representative of the Federal Association, laid wreaths of remembrance at the foot of main altar. Prayers were offered for the repose of the fallen.
The members and the clergy then moved in procession to the grave of one of the great heroes of the Great Siege, Fra’ Don Melchior de Robles, which is situated in the Chapel of the Langue of Auvergne, dedicated to St Sebastian, where prayers were again offered for the repose of his soul, before then processing for a memorial prayer at the tomb of Grand Master Jean Parisot de Valette.
