Familiarisation Lunch – Costa del Sol Restaurant, Mellieha – 7/04/2019
A group of close to two hundred persons comprising a number of Our Lords the Sick who will be joining the Maltese Association on the forthcoming annual International Pilgrimage of the Order of Malta to Lourdes, various of their relatives and friends, several pilgrims as well as an abundance of volunteers and members of the Association attended the familiarisation fund-raising lunch which was for the second time running held at the scenic Costa del Sol Restaurant, at Mellieha Bay.
Whilst some light rain showers were experienced on arrival, the weather opened up beautifully as the afternoon progressed, revealing clear blue skies under a cheerfully warm sun.
Our Lords the Sick are always our special guests at this annual gathering in preparation for the Pilgrimage.
Though also serving as a fund raiser, the main objective of this event is to afford opportunity to all participants on the Pilgrimage to get acquainted with one another in a very casual, convivial and jovial atmosphere. This greatly intensifies the sense of impatient expectation for the unique and beautiful Marian pilgrimage very soon to be experienced, some for the very first time, but always with renewed vigour even for those who have been to Lourdes before, possibly on countless occasions.
Before lunch the President of the Maltese Association and Pilgrimage Director Daniel de Petri Testaferrata, flanked by the various Lourdes Pilgrimage Team Leaders, delivered a brief address, warmly welcoming all present. He especially thanked Our Lords the Sick for presenting Members of the Order with the opportunity of tending to them, thereby being of service to our Lord Jesus Christ himself.
