International Day Of The Sick
The commemorated the International Day of the Sick on Monday 11th February 2019.
For the second year running, in compliance with the wishes expressed by the Grand Hospitaller for all National Associations of the Order of Malta to honour this special day giving witness to the Order’s charisma, a number of Our Lord the Sick who have participated in the Order’s annual Pilgrimage to Lourdes were invited to join Members and Volunteers in thanksgiving at Holy Mass held at the Sanctuary of Our lady of Divine Graces in Zabbar.
Fr.Savio Vella once again celebrated the evening Mass and delivered an inspiring homily for the occasion, treating with that very special relationship between the Blessed Virgin and Our Lord Jesus. The occasion also marked the anniversary of Our Lady’s first apparition to St. Bernadette at Lourdes.
Our Lords the Sick and their relatives were later escorted to the Parish Hall across the Church square, where they were hosted to light refreshments. This social part of the event allowed ample opportunity for closer interaction, our guests also being able to catch up with old friends, and to make some new ones too.
The is grateful to Can. Evan Caruana, Parish Priest of Zabbar, who welcomed the group to this beautiful local Marian Sanctuary, and he has already kindly renewed an invitation to the to organise the event in his Parish again next year.
