Solemn High Mass De Requiem
On 7 September 2017 the members of the Maltese Association gathered in the sacristy of St John’s Co-Cathedral, together with the members of the Order from the Federal and Western Associations, who were on a visit to Malta. This annual High Mass was co-celebrated by the Archdeacon of St John’s Co-Cathedral, who was assisted by other members of the Reverend Clergy.
After Mass, two wreaths were placed on each side of the main altar and prayers were said for the repose of the souls of those Knights who gave their lives for our freedom in the Great Siege of 1565.
In the Chapel of Auvergne the sepulchral slab of Don Melchior de Robles was blessed, to remember this iconic hero of the Great Siege.
The last stage in this procession was at the Crypt of the Grand Masters where prayers were directed at the tomb of Grand Master Jean Parisot de Valette.
