CCF Mtahleb Summer BBQ

The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honourable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.Ralph Waldo Emerson

Members and Volunteers participating in the Maltese Association’s Prison Ministry treated all 15 young male inmates held at the Young Offenders Unit Rehabilitation Services (YOURS) at Mtahleb to a summer barbeque on Wednesday 23 August 2017. Apart from providing these youngsters with a much sought after treat, the event provides an important opportunity for us to mix and mingle with the boys, lending them an ear and imparting as much good counsel to them as we possibly can. Our efforts are always very much appreciated, and provide our guests with a living example of what it means to be altruistic and sensitive to the needs of others.

This is now a well-established event in the Prison Ministry’s annual calendar, alongside the thanksgiving supper held over the Christmas period.

Mr Gordon Formosa, who now heads the Unit, was also in attendance, tucking in heartily along with other members of his staff.

After dinner, those Members and Volunteers in attendance were given a guided tour of the new wings which have recently been constructed to modern standards and which will soon be housing both male and female young offenders in much-improved conditions and with all necessary facilities including classrooms, gymnasiums and a multi-function hall.

The Maltese Association is always very grateful to Mr Joe Mangion and his wife Mrs Bernardette Mangion for attending to all the catering requirements, and very much in abundance at that.
