Seventh Orchestral Charity Concert at St John’s Co-Cathedral
FOLLOWED BY A RECEPTION IN THE NEPTUNE COURTYARD OF THE GRANDMASTER’S PALACE IN VALLETTA
The Orchestral Charity Concert has become an annual event in the Calendar of Activities of the Maltese Association of the Order of Malta. This yearly event is held to mark the Feast Day of St John the Baptist, Patron Saint of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta.
Once again, the Charity Concert Committee committed the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra. The Orchestra, under the brilliant direction of Prof. Michael Laus, gave a dazzling performance at St John’s Co-Cathedral. Edward Camilleri & Alan Mulligan tenors, Miguel Rosales, bass-baritone, Loranne Debono, soprano & Maria Azzopardi, alto and the Goldberg Ensemble Choir, enhanced the concert with their astounding musical talents. The programme took the audience on a pleasant musical trip, giving a brilliant performance of works by Handel, Marenzio, and Mozart.
The lovely evening came to an end with a reception in the prestigious Neptune’s courtyard of the Grand Master’s Palace in Valletta. Her Imperial Highness Maria Vladimirovna, Grand Duchess of Russia, who was visiting Malta to commemorate the 140th anniversary of the birth of her Grandmother Victoria Melita, was the Association’s guest of honour.
Maltese Association President Daniel de Petri Testaferrata together with Dr Pascal Demajo, chairman of the Charity Concert briefly addressed the audience at the Co-Cathedral and thanked them for their precious support.
Last but not least, our heartfelt thanks and appreciation goes to H.E. Marie-Louise Preca Coleiro, President of the Republic of Malta for her generous and gracious hospitality.
