Thanksgiving Supper at Mtahleb Correctional Facility

On Friday 3 January 2014 the Prison Ministry was happy to organise a Thanksgiving Supper for all the inmates at the Young Offenders Unit Rehabilitation Services (YOURS) institution, recently relocated at Mtahleb.

The fare was lavish, and as always the Prison Ministry is grateful to Joe Mangion for assisting with the procurement and cooking of the wonderful turkey and gammon.

The Wardens on duty also joined in the celebrations, which were held in a loving family atmosphere, and we were also graced by the presence of Mrs Rita Grima, Deputy Mayor of Zurrieq, who attended in a personal capacity, as a volunteer .

There was ample occasion for members of the Prison Ministry to circulate and reach out to all of the young inmates who are so much in need of guidance and encouragement to rebuild their lives, with a whole future lying ahead of them; and events such as these also bring out the best in the boys who roll up their sleeves both in the catering as well as in the clearing up departments.

The relaxed environment also presented the opportunity for a few competitive games of billiards in the common room before the dinner gong beckoned!
