Prison Ministry
Wednesday evening had been a long-awaited appointment with the inmates of the YOURS section of the Corradino Correctional Facility.
Thanks to the full cooperation of Joanne Battistino, Major Spiteri and the rest of the staff, a full “Thanksgiving” dinner was served to the 35 YOURS inmates. Staff member, Sir Michael and one of our volunteers, Mr Joe Mangion, together with a few young inmates with a passion for cooking, combined to produce the most sumptuous and delicious meal of chicken soup, baked rice, followed by the main course of turkey and gammon with all the trimmings par excellence! For dessert, Association member Mr Peter Sant Manduca produced a mouth-watering array of Fontanella cakes which were all eagerly devoured by everyone.
The Association members and volunteers taking part in this Prison Ministry were honoured and happy to serve the meal and also took the opportunity to mingle and talk to many of the foreign and local inmates.
All too soon the evening came to an end and the offenders were returned with a positive feeling to their cells, in high spirits and contented with something so special to fill in their day.
For our members and volunteers taking part in the Prison Ministry, it was another happy and meaningful occasion to share experiences and mentor with some of Our Lords the Incarcerated.
